Everyone belongs to one of these two groups: those that plant and
those that do not plant.
Which one are you? The group you fall under will determine whether you reap anything come harvest time.
A farmer plants many seeds during the farming season and come harvest time the farmer reaps basket loads from every seed planted.
A single effort made today can save major headache in the future.
ARE YOU SATISFIED?
In order to do more, you have to become more – Jim Rohn.
Give up who you are now for who you can become. You need to have the vision of yourself beyond your circumstances, your finances, your environment etc.
The one thing you have above every other creature is that you can be a better you. Don’t worry about cars, houses, vacations. All these things can be replenished. Your time is what you should really worry about because your time has a compounding effect on who you become. How you spend your time and what you pay attention to eventually translates into your abundance of or lack of money, success and the good things in life.
WHY invest in yourself?
The best bet for high returns is on yourself at any given time. Failure to invest in yourself means having nothing to fall on during times of peril or being at the mercy of people who invested in themselves.
You can lose everything you have and everyone around you can be gone from you at any given time. However, the only sure thing you have is YOU.
HOW do you invest in yourself?
- Spiritually – Don’t confuse this with religion or practicing yoga. Your spirituality is the deepest values and meanings by which you live. Practice being kind, caring. Practice living connected to your authentic self. Do things that bring out your true and divine nature.
- Physically– If you don’t do this for any reason do it for your health. Remember health is wealth. Your health is your most precious asset. So eat healthy, go for a walk, go swimming, run, jog, dance and exercise instead of watching the TV all day. No matter what your goals are, you must have your health at the very top of the list.
- Intellectually – read at least one book a month, learn a new skill, attend conferences, meet and networking events in your field and outside your field.
Set a time block everyday (no matter how small) to absorb contents that grow your knowledge base.
- Community – give your time and resources. Find ways to serve. Your community serves a greater purpose in your life. Your community will shape you become. Find ways to serve the needs of those in your community. This is how you express gratitude. And gratitude is what brings you joy as well as growth.
“Service to others is the rent you pay for the space you occupy here on earth”– Muhammad Ali
- Emotionally – a balanced emotion is like vitamins. It enriches your life experiences , actions and reactions. Work on your thoughts constantly because your thoughts control your feelings. Get rid of negative thoughts continuously so the positive thoughts can grow. Practice smiling, positive eye contact, engage in shared activities that creates a closer bond, practice stress management, learn to be assertive and express yourself emotionally when necessary, grow your ability to bounce back from adversity.
Whether you realize it or not, from the day you were born a lot has been invested in you. And if you are not satisfied with the results why not do it a little more differently today. Take the steps above to SPICE up your life and guarantee yourself a secure and flourishing future.
